The book has lots of different Arts and Crafts furniture but is somewhat short on details. There is enough info to build the pieces but you'll have to do a fair bit of examining the drawings to get all the details right. On a different level it gives you a good idea of how these pieces were constructed so you can design your own projects using the construction methods of a bygone era. For the most part the book takes into account wood movement that the originals didn't always compensate for.

An excellent source of craftsman furniture drawings, as well as of ideas for extrapolations. Dimensions are occasionally hard to locate, but are all present. In a few instances, dimensions are incorrect but those instances are easily identified and the correct dimensions discernable.

Its a decent book but you need to know what your doing for everything this would go well with a stack of other books that tell you how to do the stuff in this book

Great book on Craftsman period furniture. I will use this a lot in the future. Great author.

Nice pictures, but as "shop drawings" - not so great. If you want to use this book as a guide to actually build furniture, it is lacking a lot of important information and measurements. Very disappointed.

Drawings slightly disappointing

I used this, along with Making Authentic Craftsman Furniture: Instructions and Plans for 62 Projects (Dover Woodworking), to make a little table that was described in each book. This book, by Robert Lang, is more useful and practical. The other perhaps more interesting, to work from period drawings and such.These aren't plans. You still need to know how to build and make choices that will lead you towards the end result. Some details around drawer construction/hanging seem to have been left out, but there are at least a billion web pages devoted to this topic and I can imagine why the author left things vague.
