About the Author

Irene Goldenberg is Professor Emeritus of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. She served as Associate Chairperson of that department and as Director of Psychological Services for many years, and continues to teach marriage and family therapy courses to psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers there. She currently supervises doctoral students and directs the family therapy program at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. Together with Herbert Goldenberg, Dr. Goldenberg was awarded the 2007 American Family Therapy Academy lifetime achievement award for family therapy. She also holds membership in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the American Family Therapy Academy, and the Family Therapy division of the American Psychological Association. She has been elected fellow in that APA division. She is co-author of another book published by Brooks/Cole, COUNSELING TODAY'S FAMILIES, Fourth Edition.

the book itself isn't as much of an overview as I hoped, but it was required reading for my course. Also, when buying used, you get what you pay for. The book separated from the spine within a month. Well written though

I needed this textbook for college, and happy i was able to purchase the book on Amazon.

I got this book for my daughter's college class-- it is a good school book

Perfect for upcoming counselors. Iâ€™m a graduate student and Iâ€™m using this text book and it has been a very great textbook to understand different cultures and how other families are. It also approaches counseling techniques for different scenarios a must read even for counselors who are already in the field.

I haven't used this book yet because the class hasn't started. I'm sure it will be a great book because my u ni diversity requires it.
